The How and Why of Entomology

Entomologists are found worldwide, solving problems and addressing issues about insects, in diverse employment areas including environmental protection and conservation, food and fiber production, urban landscapes and structures, integrated pest management, public health, and much more. Entomologists are found in universities, molecular laboratories, government agencies, zoological and botanical gardens, international tropical laboratories, research and development companies, and serve as consultants on a variety of agricultural and environmental issues.

The Department provides on-site presentations about insects (including live insects) and can be scheduled to address K-12 grades. Presentations vary from general discussion of insects to specific details on insect collecting, metamorphosis, aquatic insects, etc.
