Description:
A newly emerged adult soldier beetle (Chauliognathus pennsylvanicus) taken on a late morning in August. Its wings are still a bit crinkled and not yet completely hardened.

Equipment and Technique:
Nikon D70 digital camera, 105mm Nikon micro lens 1/125 sec; F/14; ISO 200; with flash. Image was cropped and brightness level slightly adjusted in Adobe Photoshop 7.0.1
