Mark Johnsen

Mark Johnsen hails from the great city of El Paso, Texas (yes El Paso is in Texas). In 1995, Mark made the long trek from El Paso to begin classes at Texas A&M University as a Biomedical Science major. As an undergraduate he was a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band (A-company Wolfpack). During his junior year he saw the light and switched majors and began working at the Mosquito Research Laboratory as a student worker. These experiences led to his decision to continue on as a M. S. student under Dr. Jimmy K. Olson. After a freak incubator accident (which was not his fault) did in his first project, Mark began working on the effects of landscape and housing configuration on the effectiveness of mosquito adulticides. He has recently begun a second Master's program in the field of Veterinary Public Health. Mark's interests include basketball (2001 intramural champs), reading, ESPN, mosquito bionomics, and arthropod's relationship with disease.
