Walker Hale

Walker Hale, a proud Texas resident received a B.S. double degree Zoology and Entomology from Texas A&M University in 1998 and 1999. Even though Entomology was the second degree it was his first love. Upon completion of his degree in 1999 Walker made a three month 2500 mile trek with his second love, a KLEIN bicycle on the Pacific Coast Trail from Canada to Southern California and a loop through the Sierra Nevadas. He then settled down working for a pest control operation and briefly as a construction manager before feeling the need to again court his first love of Entomology.

Walker is now pursuing an M.S. in Entomology studying the effects of Thelohania, a microsporidian parasite of the Red Imported Fire Ant. This research under Dr. S. B. Vinson is part of the Texas Fire Ant Initiative. This parasite may prove to be a biological control mechanism in the management of an urban and agricultural pest.

Walker is a long time resident of the Northgate area of College Station and is a self appointed expert of reggae music (specializing in the post ska era) and prides himself on knowing all the hot spots for barbeque, chicken wings, and Mexican food.
