Chris Wilson Named Outstanding Undergrad Student for 2008
Congratulations to Chris Wilson for receiving the Outstanding
Undergraduate Student Award.
Chris’ initial interest in Entomology came through his participation in AgriScience contests and workshops in Entomology. As an FFA member in high school, Chris encountered Ryan Kirkpatrick (former ENTO student) at an AgriScience workshop and thus became interested in Entomology.
He began his university education with us on a part-time basis through the Blinn TEAM program and eventually transitioned into full-time status at TAMU. Chris built upon his high school FFA background through his commitment to outreach and recruitment, which has resulted in bringing a number of new students into the major of entomology.
One letter on his behalf sums up why he was chosen for this year’s Award, “Chris is a wonderful example of the type of well-rounded students that we should strive to educate, produce and graduate from our department. He has helped countless others “discover entomology” and I highly recommend him for the 2008 Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award.
