Sonia Kjos Receives 2007 Outstanding Grad Student Award

Congratulations to Sonia Kjos on receiving the Outstanding Graduate Award for the Ph.D. category.

Kjos is pursuing her Ph.D. in Entomology. Her research focuses on the biogeography and genetic variation of Triatomine Chagas Disease Vectors and Trypanosoma cruzi Isolates from Texas.

She received her master's degree in Epidemiology at the Unversity of Texas School of Public Health in Houston and has worked as a Senior Epidemiologist with the Houston Department of Health and Human Services.

"Sonia represents the kind of student this award is meant to be for," professor Jim Olson said. "She is bright and industrious and intends on doing well in her chosen field of science."
