Staff Members Receive President's Meritorious Service Awards
Congratulations to John Louis Bolch and Kathy Seaton for receiving the 2010 President’s Meritorious Service Award this December.
Bolch and Seaton, along with 25 other staff members universitywide, received the award during a special ceremony at Rudder Tower in front of a full crowd at Rudder Theater on December 7.
Seaton was chosen for the outstanding work as a Business Coordinator I, handling both teaching and research accounts in the Department for more than 11 years.
Seaton is responsible for the everyday purchasing activity, including working with students, faculty and staff with purchase orders and payment activities, fleet management, as well as tracking scholarships and tuition/fee payments for students.
“Kathy is remarkable when it comes to prioritizing and juggling many activities at the same time-giving each task the proper attention while being ever mindful of time restraints and deadlines involved,” fellow staff member Robert Jensen said.
As an academic advisor with the Department, Bolch recruits and advises undergraduate students on career goals and academic requirements for departmental degree programs. He also works with mentoring students and coordinates various outreach activities for the Department.
Bolch is a member of the University Advisors and Counselors, Aggie ALLY, the National Academic Advising Association and was the Corps Academic Mentor for Company L-1. In addition, he is also a member of the ATMentors program.
“John Louis’ advising is extremely active and effective in assisting potential students to ‘Discover Entomology’ or to ‘Catch a Clue about Forensic and Investigative Sciences!’,” according to a nomination letter sent to the Department.
Bolch has been instrumental in the creation of the Entomology Scholars Society, a select group of undergraduates that play a key role in representing the Department at various events, as well as at community service projects.
“In his short time with us, he has been incredibly productive and a valued asset to the future of our programs,” professor Dr. Pete Teel said.
Sponsored by the Office of the President and the Association of Former Students, the awards are a special way for the university to honor outstanding staff members.
Each recipient receives a commemorative plaque, lapel pin and a cash award while the team is recognized with a plaque for departmental display and each member receives a cash award and framed certificate.
