TAMU Entomology Staff Members Receive 2008 Presidential Meritorious Service Awards

The Christmas season is already here for the Department of Entomology as Mark Wright and Robert Jensen were honored with the 2008 President's Meritorious Service Award.

The awards were given during the annual holiday coffee in the Memorial Student Center on December 1. TAMU President Dr. Elsa Murano commended each recipient for their dedication and commitment they have made to the University.

Jensen oversees the personnel/payroll area and assists with managing the operations of the Department's accounting section. Jensen also acts as liaison between the faculty/staff and the administrative office and the Texas AgriLife personnel and fiscal offices. Jensen's other duties include serving as the parking representative for Zone 10.

"Robert's hard work and willingness to help get the job done is a hallmark of his personality," said Roberta Priesmeyer. "He is a strong believer in the "team spirit" attitude and works tirelessly with his co-workers to continuously build on this concept.

Wright’s duties include maintaining and managing the workstations and servers and overseeing security and safety of the department’s facilities.

"Mark has demonstrated a tremendous level of patience when educating faculty such as myself about the latest technology available for our use," said Dr. Jeff Tomberlin. "...Mark truly is the technological glue that holds our department together."

Sponsored by the Office of the President and the Association of Former Students, the awards are a special way for the university to honor outstanding staff members.

Each recipient receives a commemorative plaque, lapel pin and a cash award while the team is recognized with a plaque for departmental display and each member receives a cash award and framed certificate.
