Dr. Roger Gold teaching his Insects and Human Society classProfessor and Endowed Chair in Urban and Structural Entomology Dr. Roger Gold was featured in a video series by the Center of Teaching Excellence

The series called '‘Teaching for Tomorrow' showcases award winning faculty from the University’s nine colleges and profiles each on their teaching styles and personalities in and out of the classrooms and lecture halls.

Gold was selected for the faculty member representing the College Of Agriculture and Life Sciences and for his unique teaching style and interactivity with students. The video profiles Gold in both the teaching and learning environments in and outside the classroom setting. The student interviews with professors provide insight into how they teach and how teaching helps the students' learn better.

Since 1989, Gold's teaching style relies heavily on interactive demonstrations and hands-on experiences in his lectures. This style has led to him receiving numerous awards, including the 2003 Distinguished Achievement Award For Teaching and the NCUE Distinguished Achievement Award in Urban Entomology.

"Dr. Gold has a passion for his subject and his students that I have seldom seen in my 4 years here. I really enjoyed the class because he made it interesting. I wish more professors would have his enthusiasm and compassion for their students," a student said.
