Scientific name: Family Buprestidae
Facts: Flatheaded borers are larvae of metallic wood borers. They
range in length from 1/10 to more than 2 inches. Adults can be collected
on leaves in the sunlight, especially in the spring. Many adults can be
found on freshly cut wood. Larvae tunnel just below the bark of dead or
freshly cut wood.
