Scientific name: Chrysoperla carnea (Stephens)
Facts: The green lacewing is a common predator of aphids; both the
adults and larvae feed on aphids and other soft-bodied insects. Larvae are
sometimes called "aphid lions" because of this habit. Long antennae and
four large glossy wings distinguish lacewings. Eggs are small, white and
are placed on a stalk to prevent larvae from eating them.
