Scientific name: Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch)
(Homoptera: Aphididae)

Facts: The corn leaf aphid is common in corn and sorghum fields. Even in high numbers these aphids seldom cause damage to sorghum. Often they provide a valuable food source for beneficial insects like ladybird beetles and lacewings.
