Frequently Asked Questions

Topic:
Beetles, brown beetles
Question:
I have seen tons of brown beetle-looking insects. I'm really curious as to what they are and if you might know.
Answer:
It would be better if I had a better description of the brown beetles you're seeing. This could cover a few thousand beetle species in Texas alone! The most common rather large brown beetles right now are June beetles. They are sometimes called June bugs or May beetles. This group has a few hundred species mostly in about three genera. The immature forms of these beetles are white grubs that feed on grass roots.
