Frequently Asked Questions

Topic:
Ants, leafcutter
Question:
Where can I get information on getting rid of leafcutter ants? They are eating up my trees and crops. Any ideas?
Answer:
Check out the link below. There is a product called Volcano Leafcutter Ant Bait that is registered for use in pine tree nurseries. Other products available as bait are Grant's Total Ant Killer Bait and some formulations of Amdro that specifically say leaf cutting ants. Other products that are registered for "ants" can be used as drenches, surface treatments, or plant protectants according to the product label. Keep in mind that a leaf cutting ant colony is huge and it make takes months to reduce the numbers.
