Topic:
Butterflies, gardening
Question:
I am the Children's Activities chair and we have butterflies as our theme this year. I found some excellent ideas on your Web site (Insects in the Classroom. Do you have any other educational hands-on activities for upper elementary ages? I'm allowing about 15 minutes per activity. In the past, we've offered more craft oriented activities and I would like to move us more toward science. My goal is for the kids to leave with at least one key concept that is little known or misunderstood about butterflies. Here are a few of my ideas: -how to distinguish moths from butterflies -moth cocoons vs. butterfly chrysalis -butterfly anatomy -life cycle -butterfly habits (warming themself in the sun...) -role of plants in a butterfly's life
Answer:
