Frequently Asked Questions

Topic:
Crickets, cave or camel
Question:
Some odd looking insects are invading my home. I cannot seem to identify them. Some of my family think they may be a type of cricket.

They have the body of a cricket, yet they have 6 legs and jump and look like a crossbreed of spider. They are most frightening to look at and even worse to have jump on you. They move quickly, don't make the typical cricket noises and, so far as we know ,they have not bitten anyone.

They seem to love the basement, although lately they have infiltrated my entire home. if you can be of any assistance to me in identifying these odd little pesty creatures, I would be most grateful.

Answer:
They are probably cave or camel crickets. They probably originate in the basement and just move up occasionally into the home.

There are no special control measures. I would suggest treating them with an insecticide you might use for roaches. Treat them wherever they congregate.
