Frequently Asked Questions

Topic:
Crickets, Jerusalem cricket
Question:
While working in El Paso, Texas, I saw what appears to be a spider. I asked my fellow worker who has lived in that area about the creature. I was told that it was called "Child of the Earth" or "Nino de la tierra". I have never since this type of creature before.
Answer:
Those are also known as Jerusalem crickets in the genus Stenopelmatus. They are limited to the western part of Texas. They look fierce but they do not have any poison.
