Frequently Asked Questions

Topic:
Aquatic insects
Question:
I will be going to the Colorado River just out of Bastrop, Texas in May with a group of friends to fly fish. Do you have any suggestions for flies?
Answer:
I cannot be sure of any specific hatches there. I would be ready for small mayflies, probably Tricos or caenids, a midge hatch at dusk and a caddis hatch. A comparadun or emerger in brown or black size 18 or smaller is likely to work for midges.
